Extracellular Matrix as the negative space around taken trajectories

Details of ECM V, 2022.

December 31 2022. I have always been obsessed with spontaneous, unrestrained trajectories. Like walking aimlessly in a big unobstructed space. Fish swimming in large aquariums. Small organisms moving around their relatively large containments. My hand making a line drawing with no preconceived plan, driven by invisible forces.

All my work up to now were building more upon those spontaneously drawn trajectories. But what about the space around them? Here I am playing with thoughts around which paths divide elements and which don’t. Where do these paths allow continuity and where do they demand a division?

Restraining myself to a limited pallet of colors in this body of work, I search the space of possibilities created by such spontaneously generated paths.
